Mercatus Employees Compete to Fill it Forward

Mercatus, headquartered in Toronto, helps leading grocers get Back in Charge of their eCommerce experience, empowering them to deliver exceptional branded omnichannel shopping experiences end-to-end, from store-to-door. Their technology helps clients create authentic digital shopping experiences with solutions to drive shopper engagement, grow share of wallet and profitability, and quickly adapt to changes in consumer behavior.

The team at Mercatus planned to launch the Fill it Forward program on Earth Day, as a cornerstone of the team’s health and wellness initiatives for 2020. However the immediate shelter in place orders, due to COVID-19, rapidly created a new reality for Mercatus employees. Working from home and servicing the grocery industry, which saw a 5x the amount of online orders and deemed an essential service, the team’s unwavering dedication to meet the demands of an ever-evolving grocery industry didn’t go unnoticed.

The Mercatus team hosted a company Vision Meeting in July 2020, having had a few months to deliver on essential solutions for clients and adjust to the new reality of a remote work environment. On the day of the meeting, each employee received a company care package, complete with company swag and Fill it Forward water bottles with custom stickers. 

Mercatus invited the Fill it Forward team to host a lunch and learn in August which sparked a lot of friendly competition amongst their staff through the introduction of a fun hydration challenge to kick-off their official Fill it Forward launch. It didn’t take long for the team at Mercatus to start refilling. Within one month of launching, their team has already reached over 2,000 reuseswith one of their users accruing 300+ scans alone. This user just happens to be Mercatus’ CEO, Sylvain Perrier. Talk about leading by example!
